Stargazers Retreat is set in the peaceful Forestry Valley ideal for exploring this little known area by walking, cycling or by car. The garden has been designed as a haven for the owners own poultry and for wildlife with – bird boxes – which are always being used, there are red kites, bats in the woods, honey bees, hedgehogs and the sighting of the odd Deer
This little retreat has been converted from one of the last existing original stables that housed the ponies that were used in the forest, the ponies and the forestry workers who would have lived in the nearby cottage worked as a team. The ponies would have been harnessed up and with chains pulled the logs out of the woods to be cut up and taken away.
Set between the tiny hamlets of Trecastle and Crai and with stunning views of Pen y fan and the Brecon Beacons this is the perfect romantic getaway and many of our Visitor's come because of the Peace and Tranquility they find here.
This is also a true Star Gazers haven – with more than a telescope – there is a Computerised Mead telescope for visitors to use BUT this little retreat has its own OBSERVATORY.
To enable you to enjoy your relaxing stay even more, a BBQ/Patio area has been added onto the Obseratory. See pictures below. Complete with Low level lighting, a Cool-Box and chairs, it is the ideal place to unwind and soak in the peace and quiet and lovely views.
To enable you to Maximise your Star Gazing time, the Telescope is now equipped with a Solar Filter. There is a lot of Sun activity this year so make the most of it. Please be aware of the dangers and read the Safety Notes on the Astro Information Page
